February 2008 - New Cycle Servers

Two new Linux systems are now available:

  • Tank Compute Server - A new Dell R900 server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux server named tank.cs.indiana.edu is now available to all faculty, staff, and graduate students. This is a quad processor system with 4 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors and 32GB of memory running a 32-bit kernel. Tank is a great place to run your CPU-intensive compiles and jobs and anyone with a CS Sharkestra account automatically has an account on this system.

  • Hulk Compute Server - A second Dell R900 server named hulk.cs.indiana.edu is also available. This system is exactly like Tank with the exception that it is running a 64-bit kernel.

These servers were purchased with funds from a National Science Foundation Research Infrastructure grant and are being made available to the general CS community by the PIs on the grant.

Please see FAQ entry for a complete list of the servers available for remote and CPU intensive processing.
